Take the stress of vacation planning off your shoulders, and enjoy our suggestions for how to spend the perfect summer day in Vail.
Breakfast: Yeti’s Grind Coffee
Before heading out to explore the village, pick up your morning caffeine boost. Located in Solaris Plaza, Yeti’s Grind will not disappoint you with their “small town comfort in a cup.”
Local tip: Order the oatmeal and a Lonestar Latte (a delicious combination of chocolate, cayenne and cinnamon).
Hike: Booth Falls / Booth Lake Trail
Now that you have a bit of energy, it’s time to experience firsthand why Vail is known for hiking, boasting easy access to some of Colorado’s best trails. We love Booth Falls Trail because it gives hikers the option of taking a more rigorous 4.1 mile hike to Booth Lake or a more moderate 2 mile hike to Booth Falls.
Local tip: Pack a bag with plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen! The trail can be unshaded and the Colorado sun can be unsuspectingly intense.
Lunch: Up the Creek
Enjoy lunch with a creekside view, while dining on a farm-fresh, organic menu.
Local tip: The blackened fish tacos make for a refreshing summer meal, complemented by mango salsa and tequila lime aioli.
Shopping: Vail Village
Whether you’re looking for outdoor gear, a new work of art or a boutique to browse, Vail Village has options for any type of shopper.
Local tip: If you’re in town on Sunday, be sure to take a walk through the Vail Farmer’s Market and Art Show, which is located right outside our front door and offers a vast amount of local food, wine and spirits, handicrafts, clothing and more.
Afternoon Adventure: Gondola ride
Take a break and relax on a scenic gondola ride up Vail Mountain. The ride up is no less breathtaking than the winter view you’re used to.
Local tip: Don’t rush down once you reach the top – take time to enjoy the area.
Dinner: Red Lion
A trip to Vail isn’t complete without a stop at this local landmark, which specializes in upscale burgers, steaks and barbeque. Red Lion is known for entertainment in the form of live music, bingo nights and more.
Local tip: Stay for dessert and try the gold brick sundae, featuring an irresistible crunchy chocolate toffee topping.
