Bright, sunny days are ahead, and everyone is itching to get outside to enjoy some summer fun. With spring snow in the mountains, it’s still a little early to prep your hiking packs, but it’s never too soon to build your summer hike bucket list. During your stay at Solaris Vail, you will be surrounded by some of Colorado’s best trails. To help get your summer adventure plans started, we’re excited to share the hikes and après-adventure activities that made our must-do list!
Booth Falls / Booth Lake Trail
We love this trail because hikers can follow the more rigorous 4.1 miles to beautiful Booth Lake, or opt for the moderate 2-mile hike to scenic Booth Falls. Each trail leads to lovely views, and is a very manageable day hike. Photo: Protrails.com
Fireweed Trail
If you’re less inclined to hike steep trails, Fireweed is great alternative, and it doesn’t spare amazing views. Between Gondola One and the Eagle Bahn, this one-mile trail is family-friendly, scenic and safe for beginners.
Berrypicker Trail
This trail is a 3.2-mile meander down Vail mountain. Intermediate in difficulty, Berrypicker winds down from mid-Vail or Eagle’s Nest to Vail Village or Lionshead and boasts stunning views of Vail Village.
Notch Mountain Trail
Although it is a few miles from Vail in the neighboring town of Minturn, this trail is great for the more experienced hiker. At 5.1 miles, it’s a challenging hike with amazing alpine views that the athletic or adventurous hiker will love.
Before any hike, be sure to check the forecast, and pack essentials like clothing layers, water and snacks. Afternoon rainstorms are common in the summer months, so hiking early in the day is best to avoid dangerous weather conditions like lightning.
Après-adventure
No matter where your hiking boots take you, you will have earned a little R & R. After the trails, return to the luxury of your Solaris residence to recharge—and maybe enjoy a dip in the indoor hot tub or heated pool. Then, it’s off to Matushisa or bōl for a craft cocktail and dinner. Be sure to contact your Solaris personal assistant for preferred dining reservations, and for assistance planning your bucket-list worthy hiking excursions. Happy trails!
