In case you missed it, the nation’s largest celebration of mountain and adventure sports returned to Vail on Thursday, June 9. The GoPro Mountain Games kicked off the four-day long event with a mountain lifestyle party, and welcomed more than 2,500 athletes and 60,000 spectators to Vail Valley. The renowned games included competitive athletic events, art showcases, a film festival and live music concerts.
From June 9 through June 12, more than 60,000 visitors attended the GoPro Mountain Games. Spectators were able to be riverside, mountainside and more to get up-close to the athletic competitions. Professional and amateur athletes from the Vail Valley and around the world came together to compete across nine outdoor sports and 25 disciplines. From cross-country and road cycling, sprint and extreme kayaking, World Cup Climbing, stand up paddle sprint and surf cross, as well as trail, mud and road running, dog comps and the Ultimate Mountain Challenge, athletes showcased their expertise, dedication and ability while competing for more than $100,000 in prizes.

In addition to the athletic challenges, the GoPro Mountain Games featured a mountain photography competition showcasing fine outdoor photography, a film festival showcasing mountain lifestyle films, live concert performances and parties throughout the weekend.
